The North Dakota State University (NDSU) Carrington Research Extension Center (CREC) invites farmers, ranchers, advisors, and horticulturists to its annual Field Day on July 22, 2025. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 663 Hwy. 281 NE, Carrington, ND.
Participants will see live research in action, explore farming innovations, and interact with NDSU’s leading experts. The Field Day starts with registration, coffee, and a welcome session from university leaders. At 9:30 a.m., visitors can choose from four concurrent morning tours focusing on beef production, agronomy, horticulture, and organic agriculture.
The Beef Production Tour will feature feedout project updates, feed options, hay quality testing, livestock mortality composting, and winter cattle feeding effects on soil nutrients.
The Agronomy Tour will cover corn disease management, carbon markets, wheat varieties, soybean diseases, and canola production insights.
The Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Tour highlights organic research, soil health techniques, manure use, risk management, precision agriculture tools, and support networks for organic producers.
The Horticulture Tour offers a look at the state’s largest fruit orchard, pest control tips, irrigation methods, vegetable selection, and composting for gardeners.
After a lunch break, the afternoon session from 1:15 p.m. to 3 p.m. includes hands-on demos on soil health, organic transition, spray drones, weed management in soybeans, biofumigation, and cover crops.
Registration is appreciated but not required. All attendees can enter a draw to win a Solo Stove Fire Pit, sponsored by Proseed.
The event is supported by the Northern Canola Growers Association, North Central Sustainable Ag Research and Education, and the Carrington Research Extension Center.
