NDSU Announces 52nd Annual Harvest Bowl Celebration

By Scout Nelson

North Dakota State University (NDSU) is preparing to celebrate its 52nd annual Harvest Bowl on November 20 and 21, 2026. The two-day event recognizes the achievements, dedication, and hard work of outstanding agricultural leaders from North Dakota and western Minnesota.

The Harvest Bowl program honors agriculturists from 53 counties in North Dakota and 10 counties in western Minnesota. It highlights the important role farmers and agricultural professionals play in supporting local communities and strengthening the agriculture industry.

The celebration begins on November 20, 2026, with the Harvest Bowl dinner and awards program at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds in West Fargo, North Dakota. The event brings together agricultural leaders, university representatives, and community members to recognize the contributions of individuals working in agriculture.

On November 21, 2026, the celebration continues with the Harvest Bowl football game between NDSU and Northern Illinois University. Honorees also take part in educational sessions and guided tours of the NDSU campus. These activities provide opportunities to learn more about the university's programs, research, and facilities.

As North Dakota's land-grant university, NDSU supports agriculture through research, academic programs and NDSU Extension. These efforts help share useful knowledge, support agricultural development, and provide learning opportunities for farmers and rural communities.

The Harvest Bowl program has recognized more than 3,000 agriculturists over the years. It has also awarded more than $1,535,000 in scholarships to NDSU student-athletes. These scholarships support students who come from agricultural backgrounds and study agriculture, business, or pre-med programs.

Each year, the program also presents an Agribusiness Award to an individual who has made important contributions to agriculture and business in North Dakota and beyond.

The 2026 NDSU Harvest Bowl Agribusiness Award recipient is Mark Watne. He is recognized for his work as a farmer, cooperative leader and advocate for family agriculture. His career reflects the importance of leadership and commitment in supporting the agricultural industry.

The annual Harvest Bowl provides an opportunity to celebrate agricultural achievements, recognize community leaders, and support the next generation of professionals. It also highlights NDSU's continued connection with the farming community.

People interested in attending can find event details and registration information on the NDSU Foundation website at ndsufoundation.com/harvest-bowl. More information about Mark Watne and his achievements is available at ndsufoundation.com/harvest-bowl/agribusiness-award.
