NDSU Agronomy Field Day Shares Latest Crop Research

The NDSU Agronomy Seed Farm Annual Field Day will take place on July 13, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Central Time at 15449 37th St SE, Casselton, North Dakota 58012. The event will bring together farmers, crop advisers, agricultural professionals, students, and community members to learn about current crop production challenges and the latest agricultural research.

The field day will feature presentations from North Dakota State University Extension specialists and researchers who will share practical information to help producers improve crop health, productivity, and management decisions throughout the growing season.

The program will begin with Andrew Friskop, NDSU Extension Cereal Pathologist, who will provide an update on current small grain diseases affecting crops. Sam Markell, NDSU Extension Broadleaf Pathologist, will discuss disease issues impacting broadleaf crops, while Wade Webster, NDSU Extension Broadleaf Pathologist, will present the latest information on soybean diseases and management practices.

Participants will also hear from Carrie Dottey, NDSU Soybean Breeder, who will share progress in the university’s soybean breeding program and explain how research continues to develop improved soybean varieties for producers. Ana Carcedo, NDSU Extension Broadleaf Agronomist, will provide updates on current soybean production issues and management practices that can support successful crop growth.

Weed management is another important topic during the event. Joe Ikley, NDSU Extension Weed Scientist, and Kirk Howatt, NDSU Weed Scientist, will present current weed control strategies and discuss ways producers can improve weed management while protecting crop yields.

The program also includes a presentation by Andrew Green, NDSU Hard Red Spring Wheat (HRSW) Breeder, who will provide the latest update on wheat breeding efforts and future variety development.
