North Dakota State University is gearing up for its "Diversity, Direction and Dollars" agricultural forum, scheduled for January 17th, 2024. The event will take place at the Biesiot Activities Center in Dickinson, North Dakota, starting at 8:15 a.m. MST. This gathering promises to be a crucial platform for addressing contemporary agricultural issues.
Rob Sharkey, better known as The SharkFarmer, will be the keynote speaker. Hailing from Illinois, Sharkey is a multifaceted personality in the agricultural world, known for his grain farming and whitetail deer hunting outfitting. He's also a prominent voice in agricultural media, hosting podcasts, radio shows, and TV shows on RFD-TV and PBS.
The forum, organized by Kurt Froelich, NDSU Extension Stark-Billings County agent, aims to explore a range of topics crucial to agriculture in the western Dakotas and eastern Montana. It's an opportunity for producers to learn about boosting productivity and reducing costs while ensuring sustainable, high-quality food production.
The lineup of presenters includes experts like Chris Augustin, who will provide an update on acidic soils in Southwestern North Dakota, and Brian Jenks, discussing strategies to combat herbicide-resistant weeds.
Other notable speakers include Bryon Parmon on financial considerations for the 2024 cropping season and Rob Proulx on the use of drones in agriculture. Jakob Voight will present on John Deere's See and Spray Technology.
This forum is not just an educational event but also a chance for agricultural producers to gain insights that could be beneficial for their operations in the coming cropping season, particularly in adapting to the evolving landscape of modern agriculture.
The registration fee is $30, which includes breaks, lunch, and materials, payable at the door. The full agenda can be viewed at ndsu.ag/2024agforum.
