In a remarkable move to foster agricultural dedication among youth, the North Dakota Stockmen’s Foundation (NDSF) awarded ten scholarships at the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association’s (NDSA) 94th Annual Convention and Trade Show. This grand event, held in Watford City, North Dakota, was a testament to the continuous support for the next generation within the agricultural community.
Five Legacy Scholarships were awarded to Shawna Burian, Kazanne Gjermundson, Faith Heim, Jayden Miller, and Olivia Throener, each with diverse backgrounds in animal science, agricultural business, and communications.
Their involvement in initiatives like Tomorrow's Top Hands Beef Leadership Summit and organizations like FFA and 4-H demonstrates their dedication to agriculture.
Ian Dukart and Kennedy Wendel received the Myron Wold Scholarship, named after a NDSA member, for their passion for agriculture and plans to return to their family ranches to contribute to the community.
Carie M. Moore, a dedicated agriculture and natural resources contributor, received the Tokach Angus Ranch Memorial Scholarship to pursue a master's degree in agricultural education, aiming to address the shortage of educators.
Savanna Bader, an animal science student at North Dakota State University, was honored with the Endowment Scholarship. Bader's upbringing on a farm and ranch fostered her appreciation for agricultural production and animal care.
Ty MacDonald, a student in agricultural communications and economics, was awarded the Jack and Vander Reich Memorial Scholarship in memory of former NDSA president Jack Reich and his son, with a focus on cattle marketing.
Scholarships not only alleviate financial burdens but also acknowledge the perseverance and hard work of young individuals with diverse interests, such as ranch management, dental hygiene, nursing, and livestock production management.
For those inspired to follow in the footsteps of these ambitious students, the NDSF invites applications for its 2024 scholarships.
