NDeavor Boosts Defense and Ag Innovation

NDeavor Boosts Defense and Ag Innovation

By Scout Nelson

The NDSU Research and Technology Park in Fargo begins a bold new chapter with a fresh name and vision. Now called NDeavor Barry D. Batcheller Tech Park, the center is expanding its role in technology growth and collaboration for North Dakota and beyond.

NDeavor continues the park’s tradition of supporting startup companies, university partnerships, and workforce development.

The new name honours Barry D. Batcheller, a long-time advocate for regional technology leadership. It reflects a stronger focus on two key areas: defense and national security, and precision agriculture.

The park plans to speed up the development of dual use technologies that can work in both defense and commercial markets. Projects include autonomous systems, robotics, and multi domain platforms that improve national security readiness while transforming farming in challenging environments.

Entrepreneurs remain at the heart of NDeavor’s mission. The incubator offers prototyping labs, business resources, and technical support to help innovators move ideas from concept to market.

By connecting private sector leaders with university researchers, the park encourages breakthroughs that benefit both defense and agriculture.

“NDeavor is more than a new name, it’s a bold commitment to shaping the future of technology and national competitiveness from right here in North Dakota,” says David Cook, NDSU president and chair of the NDeavor Board of Directors.

CEO Brenda Wyland adds that the rebrand celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit of the region while strengthening ties between business and research communities.

Operating from its Fargo location, NDeavor aims to unite industry, academia, and government to create solutions that matter for both national security and commercial growth.
