The North Dakota State University Equine Center in Fargo will welcome families to Moos, Ewes and More, a free event designed to bring people of all ages closer to the world of animal science.
Located on 19th Avenue North, the event provides a fun and educational opportunity to meet farm animals, talk with experts, and learn about animal related careers.
Visitors can see, hear, smell, and touch a variety of animals including calves, pigs, sheep, and horses. Experts will share information on topics such as biology, genetics, hygiene, and nutrition, helping guests understand how animals are cared for and how science supports healthy farms.
The first 500 youth attendees will receive a special Moos, Ewes and More drawstring bag as a keepsake. A popular feature returning this year is the horse drawn wagon ride, offered by Keith Johnson and Bernie Johnson, giving families a memorable way to tour the grounds. Carnivore Catering will have hot dogs and snacks available for purchase, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy displays, demonstrations, and interactive learning stations inside and around the arena. These activities give children and adults a chance to ask questions and discover how farms work, from animal care to food production.
Event chairs include Jacob Klaudt, NDSU Lecturer and Livestock Judging Team Coach, and Justin “Jake” Galbreath, DVM and NDSU Extension Veterinarian, who both help organize and guide the educational programming.
Moos, Ewes and More encourages families to connect with agriculture, offering a fun way to learn about the animals and science that support North Dakota’s farming community.
