March Pesticide Training at NDSU Extension

By Scout Nelson

The NDSU Extension Mercer County Office is set to conduct a crucial fumigation training session aimed at individuals needing to certify or recertify applying restricted-use pesticides. This training is scheduled for March 12, 2025, from 9 am to 12 pm CST.

Event Overview:

Location: NDSU Extension Mercer County Office

Date and Time: March 12, 2025, 9 am - 12 pm CST

Cost: $30

Class Limit: 8 participants

Pesticide certification is mandatory for anyone who applies restricted-use pesticides and must be renewed every three years. The upcoming session in Mercer County provides a timely opportunity for private applicators to undergo recertification. Attendees can choose to recertify by participating in this training session or by passing a monitored exam at their local NDSU County Extension office.

Registration Details:

Participants must pre-register for the event, and registration will open 15 minutes before the training begins. Given the limited class size, early registration is recommended to secure a spot.

The training will cover essential aspects of pesticide application, including safety protocols, application techniques, and legal compliance. This session not only ensures that applicators meet regulatory requirements but also emphasizes safe and effective pesticide use, which is crucial for environmental protection and public health.

Contact Information:

For more details or to register, interested individuals can contact Craig Askim at craig.askim@ndsu.edu or call 701-873-5195. It is advisable to request any disability-related accommodation at least two weeks in advance of the event to ensure suitable arrangements can be made.

This training is an excellent opportunity for those involved in the agricultural sector to update their skills and knowledge, ensuring they continue to apply pesticides safely and responsibly.

By maintaining certified status, applicators uphold high standards of practice, contributing to the sustainability and efficiency of agricultural operations in Mercer County and beyond.
