The National Science Foundation Great Plains I-Corps Hub is launching a new specialty program focused on agricultural technology this summer. The new cohort, called Ag45, brings researchers, entrepreneurs, and innovators to Fargo while helping them turn ideas into market-ready products.
Ag45 is open to individuals and teams developing agriculture-related technologies. The program helps participants better understand customers, market needs, and the best path for commercial success. It is designed for people who want to grow new ideas into practical solutions for the agriculture industry.
The seven-session program will be held virtually from Aug. 13 through Sept. 24. It also includes in-person panels and lectures in Fargo from Sept. 15 to Sept. 18. These sessions give participants direct access to industry leaders, researchers, and technology experts.
Participants will also attend the Big Iron Farm and Construction Show and Grand Farm’s Autonomous Nation Conference. These events offer a close look at new equipment, automation tools, and advanced systems shaping the future of farming.
Located in the center of North Dakota’s agricultural region, NDSU plays an important role in research, education, and business partnerships. The university’s strong connections with farmers, agribusiness leaders, and technology companies make it a strong location for programs like Ag45.
“We are excited to offer this specialty cohort that builds on the strong momentum of ag innovation across the Midwest,” said Chad Ulven, director of Great Plains Hub I-Corps and University Distinguished Professor in mechanical engineering at NDSU. “Continuing to bridge industry and academia, our Ag45 creates a space where researchers and entrepreneurs can accelerate their work through customer discovery. Great Plains Hub is committed to helping teams move ideas from concept to market with clarity and confidence.”
The Great Plains I-Corps Hub provides business training for scientists and engineers who want to commercialize new ideas. NDSU serves as the lead institution for the regional hub, which is based at the university’s Research and Technology Park.
