Fresh from North Dakota- unveils new episodes

By Scout Nelson

North Dakota's Agriculture Commissioner, Doug Goehring, has exciting news for food enthusiasts and agriculture supporters. The state is releasing additional episodes of its popular web series "Fresh from North Dakota," which focuses on specialty crops grown locally. This series provides a platform to celebrate the state's agricultural diversity and the hard work of its producers.

The newly announced webisodes are part of an ongoing effort to bring North Dakota’s agricultural products to the forefront. Each episode, released weekly through August 28, 2024, features engaging cooking segments with North Dakota's own culinary personalities. This includes the culinary couple Sara and Eric Watson, along with chef Heather Schneider, who bring local flavors to life in their unique recipes.

The series, available on the North Dakota Department of Agriculture's social media channels and official website, serves not just to entertain but also to educate viewers on the versatility of North Dakota's specialty crops.

The initiative is funded through the USDA's Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, ensuring that the series not only promotes local produce but also supports the state's farmers.

Viewers can expect to see a variety of dishes being prepared, each highlighting different specialty crops that North Dakota is proud to produce. From appetizers to main courses, the diversity of the recipes ensures there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Furthermore, a packet containing all the recipes featured in the series can be picked up at participating farmers markets or requested online, allowing viewers to bring a taste of North Dakota into their own kitchens.

This series is a testament to North Dakota’s commitment to its agricultural roots and its efforts to innovate within the food industry. By showcasing local foods and the people who make them, "Fresh from North Dakota" aims to inspire appreciation for farm-fresh ingredients and support for the local agricultural community.
