Fargo’s Premier Crop Workshop 2025

Fargo’s Premier Crop Workshop 2025

By Scout Nelson

The 2025 Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop is set to take place on February 11 and 12 at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, North Dakota. This esteemed event, initiated in 1993, is organized annually by North Dakota State University Extension and University of Minnesota Extension.

It targets agricultural professionals like crop consultants, agronomists, and agribusiness representatives, offering them advanced training in crop production recommendations.

Registration for this essential workshop begins at 9 a.m. on February 11, with the first session scheduled for 10:15 a.m. The sessions are led by experts in the field, including a keynote on wheat and corn diseases by Andrew Friskop, highlighting both familiar and emerging challenges. Post-lunch, attendees will gain insights from Jason Fewell on strategies for sustaining farm operations.

The workshop promises a comprehensive program to spread over two days. The afternoon of the first day includes breakout sessions on diverse topics such as managing key weeds, the role of potassium in agriculture, and the complexities of pesticide pre-mixtures. There are also discussions on economic thresholds for pest management and practical applications of soil health principles.

The second day starts with a breakfast session followed by talks on a variety of subjects including soybean diseases, canola production, and the future of dry bean production in the region.

Participants will also explore the evolving landscape of carbon programs and innovative approaches to pesticide application via drones.

One of the highlights this year is a pest identification quiz, adding an interactive element to the learning experience. Certified crop advisors attending the workshop have the opportunity to earn up to 10 continuing education units.

The event wraps up after the pest quiz review on February 12. With limited spots available and a registration fee that includes meals, interested professionals are encouraged to register early.

Preregistration costs are $200 for the full event or $150 for a single day, with prices increasing for walk-in registrations. This workshop is an invaluable opportunity for agricultural professionals looking to enhance their knowledge and skills in crop management.
