The North Dakota State University (NDSU) Dickinson Research Extension Center (DREC) is thrilled to announce its upcoming field days. On July 12, a livestock-focused event will take place, followed by the annual horticulture and agronomy field day on July 13.
Livestock Field Day - July 12: Starting at 9 a.m. (MDT) at the Manning Ranch Headquarters in Manning, North Dakota, this event will offer valuable insights into various topics related to livestock. Expert presenters will cover subjects such as:
• The nitrogen cycle in rangeland - Llewellyn Manske
• Heifer development/finishing - Doug Landblom
• Comparing March and May Calving Systems - Zac Carlson
• Exploring the Interplay of Cow Size in the Production System - Lauren Hanna
• Assessing Fertilizer Impacts on Forage Nitrates - Ria McLaughlin
• Innovative Cattle Monitoring Technologies - Max Cossette, NDSU Agricultural Economics graduate student.
The following day, July 13th, will feature an exciting horticulture and agronomy field day at the DREC. The horticulture tour will begin at 9 a.m. (MDT), showcasing topics such as:
• Combatting the Emerald Ash Borer - Blake Johnson
• Addressing Tree Predation and Arbor Issues - Joe Zeleznik
• Creating Pollinator Gardens - Jan Knodel
• Garden Updates and Management Tips - Tom Kalb

After the horticulture tour, a complimentary lunch sponsored by the Dickinson Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee will be provided. Following lunch, at 1:30 p.m., the agronomy tour will commence, focusing on key topics such as:
