Greg Endres, a notable Extension cropping systems specialist, has announced his retirement from North Dakota State University (NDSU) effective May 1, culminating over 40 years of service in agricultural education and support.
Beginning his impactful career in July 1983 as an assistant agriculture and natural resources agent in Ramsey County, Endres continued to serve in Rolette County from 1985 to 1990. Since 1990, he has been stationed at the Carrington Research Extension Center, where he specialized as an Extension agronomist.
Throughout his career, Endres focused on supporting Extension agents and educating North Dakota's crop advisers and farmers. His initiatives included the Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop and the Getting-it-Right in Crop Production series.
His research primarily targeted soybean and dry bean production, contributing significantly to the growth of these crops' acreage in the state.
"It was fulfilling to grow professionally as a soybean production resource," said Endres. He also held presidency at several professional organizations and earned numerous awards for his service and leadership.
Mohamed Khan, assistant director at NDSU Extension, expressed gratitude for Endres' contributions: "His legacy will continue through the programs and research he helped to shape."
An open house to honor Greg Endres' career will be held on April 29 at the NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center.
