U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins visited Fargo, North Dakota, for a roundtable discussion with Governor Kelly Armstrong, Senator John Hoeven, Representative Julie Fedorchak, and North Dakota State University President David Cook. The event was held at the NDSU Peltier Complex and brought together agricultural leaders, researchers, and commodity groups.
Governor Armstrong welcomed Secretary Rollins, expressing gratitude for the Trump administration’s support of North Dakota's agricultural producers.
“North Dakota farmers and ranchers are the best in the world, and we appreciate Secretary Rollins coming to Fargo to hear firsthand about the challenges and opportunities facing our ag producers as they feed and fuel the world,” said Armstrong.
During the visit, Secretary Rollins announced the release of over $340 million in disaster assistance through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. This funding will aid farmers, ranchers, and rural communities across the country.
More than $5 million has been allocated to North Dakota to support the rebuilding of electric infrastructure damaged by storms and wildfires.
Rollins’ visit comes shortly after her confirmation as the nation’s 33rd agriculture secretary on February 13. Her meeting in Fargo was hosted by Senator Hoeven, who serves as a senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee and chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee.
The roundtable discussion focused on food security, international trade, and regulatory reform. Leaders expressed commitment to ensuring fair trade practices and reducing burdensome regulations.
Following the roundtable, Secretary Rollins and Governor Armstrong joined members of NDSU’s Student Ag Ambassadors for a luncheon, continuing conversations about the future of agriculture in the state.
The event highlighted ongoing collaboration between federal and state leaders to support and strengthen agriculture in North Dakota.
