Energy Progress & Innovation Conference Returns to Bismarck
North Dakota Ag Connection - 01/17/2022

Bismarck State College (BSC) presents the Energy Progress & Innovation Conference Jan. 25-27 at the Bismarck Event Center. Featuring 200 exhibit booths representing 28 states, the conference planning committee anticipates over 1,000 attendees.

Organizers officially changed the name of the conference from the Energy Generation Conference (EGC) to Energy Progress & Innovation Conference (EPIC) prior to the 2021 virtual conference and are looking forward to returning to the Bismarck Event Center for the first in-person event as EPIC. The conference mission is to energize industry and individuals in a competitive market through education, technology and networking. With the name change, the committee's goal is to reach beyond the traditional generation and expand the opportunity to explore more energy resources in the region.

Keynote speaker Bill Sims, Jr. will kick off each day of the conference with his session, "Beyond Zero Injuries." Sims is the author of "Green Beans and Ice Cream: The Best Recipe for Leadership and Positive Reinforcement." In each keynote session, Sims and participants will take a hard look at why millions of dollars are spent in search of Zero Injuries, the "holy grail" of safety.

Afternoon sessions will feature an environmental, social and governance panel discussion, moderated by Mike Holmes, vice president of research and development for Lignite Energy Council, and a closing session with Michael Nasi, environmental and energy lawyer at Jackson Walker LLP, on the "US Energy Reliability Outlook."

Pre-conference sessions on Tuesday, Jan. 25, will include "Climate Stress and Carbon Management in the Power Industry," "NEC 2020 Code Updates," "Lignite 101: Know the Industry You Serve" and more. The Exhibitor Showcase, the only free event open to the public, runs from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

On Jan. 26 and 27, educational and professional development sessions will take place throughout both days.

Booth space for the conference is still available but limited. Register by Jan. 20 to secure $50/day pricing.
