North Dakota Winter Wheat Beginning to Emerge

For the week ending Sunday, there were 6.8 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 14% very short, 35% short, 46% adequate, and 5% surplus.Subsoil moisture supplies rated 12% very short, 30% short, 54% adequate, and 4% surplus.

Soybean condition rated 8% very poor, 8% poor, 36% fair, 43% good, and 5% excellent. Soybeans dropping leaves was 75%, ahead of 60% last year, but near 78% for the five-year average. Harvested was 8%, ahead of 1% last year, and near 7% average.

Spring wheat harvested was 95%, ahead of 82% last year, and equal to average.

Durum wheat harvested was 91%, well ahead of 66% last year, and near 88% average.

Winter wheat planted was 47%, well ahead of 24% last year, and ahead of 41% average. Emerged was 7%.

Corn condition rated 5% very poor, 8% poor, 29% fair, 51% good, and 7% excellent. Corn dented was 81%, well ahead of 53% last year, but near 82% average. Mature was 39%, well ahead of 4% last year, and ahead of 31% average. Harvested was 3%, near 1% average.

Canola harvested was 83%, well ahead of 57% last year, but near 84% average.

Sugarbeet condition rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 5% fair, 43% good, and 49% excellent. Sugarbeets harvested was 12%, equal to both last year and average.

Oats harvested was 96%, ahead of 87% last year, and equal to average.

Dry edible peas harvested was 96%, near 95% last year.

Sunflower condition rated 7% very poor, 13% poor, 34% fair, 42% good, and 4% excellent. Sunflowers ray flowers dry was 93%, ahead of 85% last year, and near 92% average. Bracts turned yellow was 79%, ahead of 61% last year, and near 76% average. Bracts turned brown was 47%, well ahead of 16% last year, and ahead of 37% average.

Flaxseed harvested was 83%, well ahead of 49% last year, and near 80% average.

Potato condition rated 3% very poor, 2% poor, 25% fair, 59% good, and 11% excellent. Potatoes vines dry was 92%, ahead of 82% last year and 85% average. Harvested was 39%, ahead of 22% last year and 27% average.

Dry edible bean condition rated 4% very poor, 11% poor, 26% fair, 42% good, and 17% excellent. Dry edible beans dropping leaves was 97%, ahead of 90% last year. Harvested was 55%, well ahead of 24% last year, and equal to average.

Lentils harvested was 78%, ahead of 61% last year, but behind 88% average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 10% very poor, 21% poor, 46% fair, 22% good, and 1% excellent.

Stock water supplies rated 7% very short, 30% short, 61% adequate, and 2% surplus.
