86 Percent of N.D. Stock Water Supplies Short to Very Short

For the week ending Sunday, there were 6.0 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 30% very short, 34% short, 34% adequate, and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 43% very short, 33% short, 23% adequate, and 1% surplus.

Soybean condition rated 15% very poor, 29% poor, 40% fair, 16% good, and 0% excellent. Soybeans dropping leaves was 80%, ahead of 72% last year and 74% for the five-year average. Harvested was 11%, near 7% last year, and ahead of 6% average.

Winter wheat planted was 39%, near 42% last year and 37% average. Emerged was 1%, behind 7% last year and 6% average.

Corn condition rated 16% very poor, 27% poor, 41% fair, 16% good, and 0% excellent. Corn dented was 90%, ahead of 79% last year and 78% average. Mature was 43%, ahead of 36% last year and 32% average. Harvested was 3%, equal to last year, and near 1% average.

Canola harvested was 81%, equal to both last year and average.

Sugarbeet condition rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 29% fair, 51% good, and 14% excellent. Sugarbeets harvested was 11%, near 12% last year, and equal to average.

Sunflower condition rated 11% very poor, 31% poor, 39% fair, 18% good, and 1% excellent. Sunflowers ray flowers dry was 93%, near 92% last year and 91% average. Bracts turned yellow was 81%, near 77% last year, and ahead of 75% average. Bracts turned brown was 38%, behind 45% last year, but near 36% average.

Flaxseed harvested was 93%, ahead of 81% last year and 78% average.

Potato condition rated 4% very poor, 16% poor, 63% fair, 15% good, and 2% excellent. Potatoes vines dry was 84%, behind 91% last year, and near 86% average. Harvested was 29%, behind 36% last year, but near 26% average.

Dry edible bean condition rated 15% very poor, 30% poor, 39% fair, 16% good, and 0% excellent. Dry edible beans dropping leaves was 95%, near 96% last year, and equal to average.

Harvested was 57%, ahead of 51% last year and 49% average.

Alfalfa condition rated 44% very poor, 33% poor, 20% fair, 3% good, and 0% excellent. Alfalfa second cutting was 95%, behind 100% last year, and near 97% average.

Lentils harvested was 96%, ahead of 77% last year and 83% average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 54% very poor, 29% poor, 14% fair, 3% good, and 0% excellent.

Stock water supplies rated 53% very short, 33% short, 14% adequate, and 0% surplus.
