North Dakota State University Extension and the University of Minnesota Extension are partnering with the Livestock Marketing Information Center to present a webinar focused on the sheep and goat market outlook. The online event will begin at 7 p.m. CDT on July 15, 2026, and will provide valuable information for livestock producers preparing marketing plans for the coming season.
The webinar features livestock marketing insights from Tyler Cozzens, an agricultural economist and sheep and goat economics specialist with the Livestock Marketing Information Center. Travis Hoffman, Extension sheep specialist for NDSU and UMN, is helping organize the program to provide producers with timely information that supports better marketing decisions and improved farm profitability.
Participants will learn about the current supply and demand for sheep and goats in the United States and hear an outlook for market conditions in the months ahead. The session also explains how changing industry conditions may affect livestock prices and marketing opportunities.
“This summer has offered changing market dynamics with widespread drought, New World screwworm and limited sheep supply,” says Travis Hoffman, Extension sheep specialist for NDSU and UMN. “Our strong domestic demand is evidenced by record prices. Join us to learn about marketing your lamb and kid crop.”
Tyler Cozzens will discuss the factors influencing today's livestock markets and explain how producers can use market information when making production and selling decisions. The presentation is designed to help farmers understand current trends and prepare for future opportunities.
“As the culmination of a year’s work of production, we should invest the time to make decisions that positively impact the profitability of our operations,” says Hoffman.
Registration is required for the webinar, and participants will receive a Zoom link immediately after signing up. A recording of the presentation will also be available for registered attendees after the event, allowing producers to review the information at their convenience.
