The North Dakota Lamb and Wool Producers Association (NDLWPA) will host its 2025 annual convention on October 3–4 at the Rough Riders Hotel in Medora, North Dakota.
The convention is organized in partnership with North Dakota State University Extension and will bring together producers, researchers, youth, and industry leaders for two days of networking, learning, and celebrating the state’s sheep and lamb industry.
With a theme focused on innovation and collaboration, the convention will feature a wide range of activities and educational opportunities. The event begins Friday, October 3, with a golf tournament at Bully Pulpit at 10 a.m., followed by evening activities starting at 5:30 p.m. These include a youth-focused sheep reproduction demonstration, a social event, and a fundraiser auction.
“We welcome all sheep producers to become members and join the excitement at this year’s convention,” says Travis Hoffman, Extension sheep specialist for NDSU and University of Minnesota. “This is a chance to learn from fellow producers and for our youth to excel with their sheep operation.”
Saturday’s agenda offers a variety of informative sessions. Topics include a market outlook, an American Sheep Industry update, and a presentation by the American Lamb Board. The annual business meeting will also take place.
Additional educational sessions feature a Wildlife Services Update by Carl Frey, a discussion on lamb supply chain innovation by Travis Hoffman, and presentations on animal performance tracking and lambing practices by Rachel Gibbs and Christopher Schauer of NDSU.
The convention will conclude with an alternative production sheep producer panel and Q&A session, encouraging open discussion among producers.
Youth programs led by Rachel Gibbs will run alongside the main schedule, offering hands-on learning experiences designed to support and inspire the next generation of sheep producers.
