North Dakota Leader Cindy Schreiber Beck Passes Away

By Scout Nelson

State Representative Cynthia “Cindy” Schreiber Beck of Wahpeton, North Dakota, has passed away, leaving behind a strong legacy of public service and innovation. She is remembered for her leadership in aviation, agriculture, and education.

Cindy Schreiber Beck was first elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives in 2014 and served District 25 with dedication.

She was re-elected in 2018 and 2022. During her time in office, she served on important House committees for Education and Agriculture. She supported laws that improved farming, schools, aviation, research, and new technology.

Cindy and her husband Gerry Beck owned Tri-State Aviation in Wahpeton. After Gerry’s passing in 2007, she continued to run the business. For almost 40 years, she also led the North Dakota Agricultural Aviation Association. On March 4, 2025, she was honored as the 50th member of the North Dakota Aviation Hall of Fame.

She was also a member of the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission from 1997 to 2022. In 2013, she worked with a governor’s task force that helped create one of the country’s first unmanned aerial systems (UAS) test sites in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Governor Kelly Armstrong expressed deep sadness and praised her years of service. He ordered U.S. and North Dakota flags to be flown at half-staff on the day of her funeral. North Dakota citizens are also encouraged to lower their flags in her memory.
