North Dakota Celebrates Pride of Dakota Month

By Scout Nelson

Governor Kelly Armstrong has officially designated March 2025 as Pride of Dakota Month, a celebration to honor and promote local businesses across North Dakota. The highlight of this month-long celebration will be Pride of Dakota Day, set to take place at the state Capitol on Thursday, March 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This special event, held in the Capitol’s Memorial Hall and Legislative Hall, will feature over 25 Pride of Dakota companies. These local businesses will offer a variety of products ranging from gourmet foods and books to jewelry and home decor. The event provides a unique opportunity for both Capitol visitors and state employees to purchase and learn more about the diverse offerings produced within the state.

Additionally, the Capitol Café will enhance the day's festivities by serving lunch that showcases North Dakota commodities and products from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A new permanent retail area within the café will also debut, offering Pride of Dakota products for sale, supporting ongoing local business exposure.

Admission to the event is free, and the public is encouraged to attend. Convenient parking is available on the east and south sides of the Capitol building, with entry through the south entrance, where security checks will be conducted.

The Pride of Dakota program, administered by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, is celebrating its 40th year of supporting North Dakota’s local businesses. The program facilitates member companies in various marketing and promotional events, including in-store demonstrations and holiday showcases.

It also provides educational opportunities and represents local businesses at regional, national, and international expositions. Currently, over 500 companies are members of the Pride of Dakota program, benefiting from its extensive network and support services.

This event not only celebrates North Dakota’s rich entrepreneurial spirit but also encourages the community to support local businesses and enjoy the quality products they offer.
