The North Dakota Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) Council will meet at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9. The meeting will be held in the 6th floor conference room of the North Dakota Department of Agriculture at the State Capitol.
The session will begin with introductions and a welcome to the new council member, Karla Meikle. Following that, the council will approve the minutes from the last meeting, held on September 19, 2024.
An important topic will be the review of the current grantee projects. Council members will discuss progress, as well as how to manage any unused funds from those grants. Updates will also be shared about the AITC’s presentation before the legislature and the Ag Day booth.
The council will look at the current AITC activities in 2024 and brainstorm new ideas and plans for the 2025-26 school year.
These ideas include introducing hands-on classroom kits such as robotics, worm farms, butterfly kits, wool spinning kits, and materials for career fairs. There will also be a special focus on honey kits through the Specialty Crop Block Grant.
Further opportunities for AITC will be discussed, such as taking part in Pride of Dakota Showcases and other public events like Capital A’Fair, the FFA State Convention, and ag career fairs.
The Living Ag in the Classroom program and the Ag Mags distribution timeline will also be reviewed.
The new grants will open on Monday, May 12, and will close on June 6. The council will look at the new grant applications and prepare for funding decisions.
The next council meeting is scheduled for June 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
