In a remarkable display of talent and mentorship, North Dakota 4-H'ers are set to share their expertise in livestock showmanship with the state's public leaders. The North Dakota Public Leaders 4-H Showmanship Event, scheduled for 5 p.m. on Friday, July 28, at the North Dakota State Fair All Season Arena in Minot.
The event brings together 24 accomplished 4-H'ers who achieved champion or reserve champion status at the intermediate and senior levels in showmanship for six livestock species during the North Dakota State Fair. These exceptional youths will be paired with esteemed North Dakota leaders, including Lt. Governor Tammy Miller and North Dakota State Veterinarian Dr. Ethan Andress, as well as area legislators and other state leaders.
What sets this event apart is its two-fold purpose: first, it allows the youth to impart their knowledge of showing specific livestock species to the leaders they are paired with. This unique teaching opportunity not only showcases the communication and showmanship skills of these young individuals but also empowers them to engage confidently with adults in leadership roles across the state.
Secondly, following the insightful knowledge exchange, the leaders themselves will participate in a livestock showmanship contest. Judging the contest will be the very 4-H'ers who mentored the leaders, creating an exciting and interactive atmosphere.
The North Dakota Public Leaders 4-H Showmanship Event offers numerous benefits for youth, including enhancing public speaking, communication, and leadership skills, and fostering connections with influential leaders. Leaders can invest in and engage with talented 4-H'ers, fostering mentorship and camaraderie.
This event underscores the 4-H program's commitment to providing hands-on, learn-by-doing experiences. As the community comes together at the North Dakota State Fair, the event promises to be a fun and exciting occasion for families, youth, public leaders, and the general public.
The North Dakota Public Leaders 4-H Showmanship Event stands as a testament to the empowerment of young minds, bridging the gap between present and future leaders, all while celebrating the rich culture of livestock showmanship in North Dakota.
