North Dakota State University (NDSU) will host the North Central Research Extension Center (NCREC) Field Day on July 15, 2026, bringing together farmers, crop advisers, agribusiness professionals, and community members to learn about the latest agricultural research and Extension programs. The annual event focuses on practical solutions that help producers improve crop production, livestock management, soil health, pest control, and overall farm success.
The program begins with registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by a pest clinic, educational displays, and refreshments. The official program starts at 9 a.m. with welcome remarks and the presentation of the NDSU Partnership Award. Attendees will also receive a market outlook from Frayne Olson, NDSU Extension crops economist and professor, who will discuss current agricultural market conditions and economic trends affecting producers.
“The NCREC field day is the opportunity to see how the research and Extension efforts at NCREC directly benefit producers,” says Shana Forster, director of NDSU’s North Central Research Extension Center. “It is a great opportunity to interact with researchers and Extension specialists.”
After the morning presentations, participants will travel by trailer to several field research stations where NDSU specialists will share the latest recommendations. Topics include forage and livestock management, weed control strategies, corn weed management, soil health demonstrations, soybean and canola production, hard red spring wheat variety research, small grain disease management, and insect management.
The presentations will be led by experienced researchers and Extension specialists, including Rogers and Lacey Quail, Brian Jenks, Joe Ikley, Carlos Pires, Ana Carcedo, Andrew Green, Andrew Friskop, and Jan Knodel. These sessions will highlight current research that addresses challenges and opportunities facing North Dakota agriculture while providing practical management advice for producers.
The event concludes at noon with lunch, giving participants an opportunity to meet with NDSU researchers, Extension specialists, and fellow producers. The field day offers valuable learning opportunities for anyone interested in modern farming practices, research-based recommendations, and agricultural innovation.
