NDSU Extension Soybean School Days

NDSU Extension Soybean School Days

By Scout Nelson

North Dakota State University Extension announces the 2026 Western Soybean School Days, scheduled for February 18 and 19 at two locations in western North Dakota. These educational events focus on sharing practical and research-based information related to soybean production and management.

The program on February 18 will take place in Minot at the North Central Research Extension Center conference room. The February 19 session will be held at the New Leipzig Community Center. Both events are designed to support those involved in soybean production by providing timely updates on crop management, soil fertility, and pest control practices.

Each school day will begin at 10 a.m. and conclude at 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided at noon at both locations. While attendance is free, advance registration is required to help organizers plan meal counts. Registration and additional details are available online at ndsu.ag/WestSoybean26.

The agenda for both locations will cover several important soybean topics. Sessions include guidance on achieving the right soybean plant populations, updates on soybean inoculation practices, and current weed control research findings. Participants will also learn about alternative soybean storage options and receive a soybean market and production outlook.

These topics aim to help improve decision making during the growing season and support better crop performance. The information shared is based on ongoing research and field studies relevant to western North Dakota conditions.

Certified crop advisers attending the events will have the opportunity to earn continuing education units at both locations. This adds professional value to the program while supporting continued learning in crop management.

Western Soybean School Days are sponsored by the North Dakota Soybean Council. Through this support, NDSU Extension continues its mission to deliver reliable, research-based agricultural education to local communities.

These events provide a valuable opportunity to learn about current soybean challenges, explore new research, and gain insights that can support successful soybean production in the upcoming growing season.
