NDSU ASME Student Section Earns Top Achievement Award

NDSU ASME Student Section Earns Top Achievement Award

By Scout Nelson

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), one of the world’s leading organizations promoting mechanical engineering, has honoured the ASME Student Section at North Dakota State University (NDSU) with the Student Section Achievement Award.

This recognition celebrates the chapter’s exceptional leadership, innovation, and dedication to advancing the profession of mechanical engineering among students.

ASME encourages student participation through local university chapters that support academic growth, networking, and community service. These student sections create opportunities for young engineers to enhance their technical skills, develop leadership qualities, and connect with industry professionals.

In the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 fiscal years, the NDSU Student Section stood out as one of the most active and impactful ASME chapters worldwide. The award highlights the chapter’s commitment to following ASME standards, staying connected with the organization, and delivering programs that benefit students across campus.

The official award letter praised the NDSU leadership team for its consistent efforts, stating that the group demonstrated outstanding collaboration, creativity, and dedication to student development. Members of the chapter actively engage in organizing seminars, workshops, and outreach programs to strengthen both academic and professional skills among peers.

Dr. Fardad Azarmi, professor in NDSU’s Mechanical Engineering Department, serves as the faculty advisor to the student section. Under his guidance, the team continues to inspire engineering excellence through teamwork and service.

The recognition symbolizes NDSU’s growing reputation for nurturing engineering talent and promoting student leadership in technical education. Moving forward, the ASME Student Section at NDSU plans to continue its mission of fostering innovation and empowering the next generation of mechanical engineers to create a positive impact on the world.
