Kubota has introduced WorkSmart Autosteer, a new precision guidance system that brings advanced agricultural technology to a broader range of equipment and operators. Designed for compact and utility machines, the system helps improve field accuracy while making precision farming more accessible and affordable.
The launch reflects growing demand for technologies that enhance productivity and reduce operating costs. While precision guidance systems have traditionally been associated with large agricultural equipment, WorkSmart Autosteer extends these capabilities to smaller tractors, utility vehicles, and other equipment commonly used across farming, ranching, and turf operations.
A key feature of the system is its manufacturer-matched design. Rather than relying on a third-party kit, the guidance solution is specifically engineered for compatible Kubota equipment. This allows for seamless integration and provides users with a single source for installation, service, support, financing, and warranty coverage.
“WorkSmart Autosteer isn’t about removing the operator from the decision; it’s about helping to remove fatigue and error from the equation,” said Austin Hawkins, Senior Manager, Technology Sales and Marketing, Kubota North America. “At your command, the machine holds the line, so you stay sharp, cover more ground and still get home with something left for the people who matter most.”
The guidance system assists operators by maintaining a consistent travel path during field work. By helping equipment stay on course, the technology reduces missed areas and overlapping passes. This can improve operational efficiency and support more precise application of seed, fertilizer, and crop protection products.
WorkSmart Autosteer includes two accuracy options to meet different operational needs. The SBAS (WAAS) correction level delivers six to eight inches of repeatable accuracy without requiring a subscription. For operations requiring a higher level of precision, the PPP correction option provides approximately one-inch accuracy and is available through an annual subscription plan.
Precision farming technologies often deliver value through reduced waste and improved consistency. Maintaining accurate guidance lines can lower input costs by minimizing overlap, while also improving overall field performance. These efficiencies become especially valuable during critical activities such as planting, spraying, cultivation, and harvesting.
The system is designed to support a variety of applications beyond traditional crop production. Compatible equipment can be used in hay operations, mowing, spreading, road grading, orchard management, vineyard work, and other specialized tasks. This wide range of uses allows producers to gain value from technology throughout the year.
Kubota has also focused on ease of adoption. Dealer installation can typically be completed within a few hours, and operators receive training and support as part of the process. The technology is controlled through a mobile application available on both iOS and Android platforms, providing convenient access to system settings and operational tools.
Supporting resources, including tutorials and calibration guides, are available to help operators learn and maintain the system. This focus on usability is intended to encourage adoption among users who may be new to precision agriculture technologies.
Another advantage of the system is consistency across varying skill levels. Guidance technology helps create reliable travel paths regardless of operator experience, making it easier to maintain high-quality field performance and helping organizations train newer operators more efficiently.
“We installed WorkSmart Autosteer with two different customers,” said Tom Butner of Marshall Service Company in Marshall, Missouri. “One is using the system for general row crop farming and the other in his hay production operation, and the steering performance has been excellent. What really sold them is how easy it is to operate, even for operators who have never used precision guidance before.”
