Another leading agronomic professional has joined Meristem Crop Performance, one of the fastest-growing crop input suppliers in America. Eli Swenson becomes a Meristem sales representative in North Dakota and the Red River Valley. Swenson has great experience in helping growers boost their profitability with the right products and practices.
"We're really grateful to have signed up Eli Swenson to help us carry out our mission of creating real productivity for farmers," says Mitch Eviston, Meristem founder and CEO of his most recent new team members. "I'm very happy to turn this very talented young professional loose to serve farmers with our growing portfolio of high-quality products."
Eli Swenson grew up in the small town of Shelly, Minnesota and developed an early interest in agriculture when he began working on a cousin's farm at a young age. "I loved working outdoors and farm life really appealed to me," remembers Swenson. "I knew I wanted to work in agriculture."
Swenson followed that desire through college at North Dakota State University (NDSU), where he earned a crop science degree. Once he graduated, he went to work in ag retail, serving farmers for AgriMAX out of their Fisher, Minnesota location. He now looks to apply his experience to widening Meristem's positive impact to more farmers in the upper Corn Belt.
"I think Meristem's passion for bringing a greater return on investment (ROI) to growers is a really great mission. I love bringing more dollars back to the acre for that farmer," said Swenson. "It's important to me to be an additional source of knowledge – an additional asset – to those farmers who want to push the envelope and make more out of every acre and every dollar they spend on crop inputs." Swenson says his approach starts with recognizing crop production as an "integrated system."
"Many things need to work together to bring a farmer great success" Swenson said. "Just the right pair-up of an adjuvant with a herbicide can improve weed contro by 50 to 90 percent."
Swenson and his wife Ali live in Shelly, Minn., where she teaches first grade in a Climax-Shelly School.
