North Dakota Soybean Maturity Well Behind Average Pace



For the week ending Sunday, there were 6.7 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 12% very short, 42% short, 44% adequate, and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 8% very short, 38% short, 53% adequate, and 1% surplus.

Soybean condition rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 37% fair, 49% good, and 6% excellent. Soybeans dropping leaves was 37%, well behind 64% last year, and behind 51% for the five-year average.

Spring wheat mature was 96%, near 100% both last year and average. Harvested was 79%, behind 97% last year and 88% average.

Durum wheat coloring was 95%, behind 100% both last year and average. Mature was 81%, behind 100% last year and 97% average. Harvested was 65%, well behind 95% last year, and behind 80% average.

Winter wheat planted was 21%, equal to last year, and ahead of 15% average.

Corn condition rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 34% fair, 50% good, and 8% excellent. Corn dough was 92%, behind 97% last year, and near 95% average. Dented was 60%, behind 75% last year, and near 63% average. Mature was 12%, behind 21% last year, and near 15% average.

Canola condition rated 0% very poor, 2% poor, 28% fair, 50% good, and 20% excellent. Canola coloring was 96%, near 100% last year and 99% average. Harvested was 54%, behind 70% last year and 67% average.

Sugarbeet condition rated 2% very poor, 2% poor, 32% fair, 53% good, and 11% excellent. Sugarbeets harvested was 8%, near 7% last year, and equal to average.

Oats harvested was 90%, behind 96% last year, and equal to average.

Barley harvested was 89%, behind 99% last year and 94% average.

Dry edible peas dropping leaves was 97%, near 100% both last year and average. Harvested was 91%, behind 98% last year and 96% average.

Sunflower condition rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 35% fair, 56% good, and 4% excellent. Sunflowers ray flowers dry was 78%, behind 89% last year and 84% average. Bracts turned yellow was 50%, behind 62% last year and 59% average. Bracts turned brown was 20%, near 21% last year and 19% average.

Flaxseed harvested was 65%, behind 80% last year, and equal to average.

Potato condition rated 0% very poor, 1% poor, 31% fair, 54% good, and 14% excellent. Potatoes vines dry was 47%, behind 66% last year, and well behind 73% average. Harvested was 21%, ahead of 12% both last year and average.

Dry edible bean condition rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 40% fair, 48% good, and 6% excellent. Dry edible beans dropping leaves was 65%, well behind 92% last year and 89% average. Harvested was 18%, behind 35% last year and 31% average.

Lentils harvested was 68%, well behind 92% last year, and behind 73% average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 2% very poor, 12% poor, 45% fair, 38% good, and 3% excellent.

Stock water supplies rated 3% very short, 24% short, 72% adequate, and 1% surplus.
