North Dakota Seeks Proposals for Ag Education Programs

By Scout Nelson

The North Dakota Department of Agriculture, in partnership with the North Dakota Agriculture in the Classroom Council, is inviting proposals to develop new agriculture education programs and materials. These efforts aim to help students understand how agriculture impacts their lives and the state’s economy.

The initiative is part of the state’s Agriculture in the Classroom program, which supports creative ways to teach agriculture through hands-on learning, classroom resources, and interactive activities. Teachers, educational groups, and organizations are encouraged to apply ideas that bring farming and agriculture into school settings.

North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring announced that up to $100,000 is available for projects during this biennium. Funding can be used to develop new classroom materials, teacher training sessions, school visits, or other learning tools that help students understand where their food comes from and how agriculture supports local communities.

These programs are important because agriculture plays a big role in North Dakota’s economy and lifestyle. Teaching young people about this connection helps them value farming and may even inspire future careers in agriculture.

Applications should clearly describe how the proposed program will educate students, the age groups it targets, and the expected outcomes. Projects that are innovative, practical, and easy to use in schools will be given special consideration.

Interested individuals or groups can visit the North Dakota Department of Agriculture’s website to learn more about the proposal requirements and funding process. Applications will be accepted until all funds are awarded.
