N.D. Barley Stocks Up 129 Percent, Oats Up 93 Percent



All wheat stored in all positions in North Dakota on December 1, 2022 totaled 212 million bushels, up 14% from a year ago, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. On-farm stocks of 140 million bushels are up 46% from 2021 and off-farm stocks of 72.0 million bushels are down 20% from last year.

Durum wheat stored in all positions totaled 18.7 million bushels, up 7% from a year ago. Of the total, 14.0 million bushels are stored on farms, up 47% from last year, while 4.68 million bushels are stored off farm, down 41% from 2021.

Barley on-farm stocks are 19.0 million bushels, up 129% from last year.

Corn stocks totaled 259 million bushels, down 14% from 2021. Of the total, 155 million bushels are stored on farms, down 16% from a year ago. Off-farm stocks, at 104 million bushels, are down 10% from last year.

Soybeans stored in all positions totaled 94.4 million bushels, up 14% from last year. On-farm stocks of 46.0 million bushels are up 12% from a year ago, while off-farm stocks, at 48.4 million bushels, are up 16% from 2021.

Oats stocks on farms, at 5.70 million bushels, are up 93% from a year ago..

Hay stocks on North Dakota farms totaled 3.30 million tons on December 1, 2022, up 57% from a year earlier.

Grain storage capacity in North Dakota totaled 1.39 billion bushels, unchanged from December 1, 2021. Total grain storage capacity is comprised of 930 million bushels of on-farm storage, unchanged from last year, and 460 million bushels of off-farm storage, unchanged from 2021.
