Connecting Today's Leaders with Tomorrow's Leaders in Agriculture

Several state leaders took part in the North Dakota Public Leaders 4-H Showmanship Event at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot. Paired with 24 champion and reserve champion 4-H'ers from the intermediate and senior levels, they received tips from the youth on how to show specific livestock species. The 4-H'ers then served as judges for the leaders' efforts.

Kurt Froelich and Leigh Ann Skurupey emphasize the event's value in connecting leaders with the next generation and fostering essential life skills.

The event was well-received by 4-H members and state leaders, with Macy Monson appreciating the opportunity to share agricultural knowledge. Lt. Governor Tammy Miller expressed her delight in returning to 4-H, which played a crucial role in her leadership development.

The event saw state leaders showcase their showmanship skills, with winners in each livestock species announced. Representative Mike Lefor won in Beef Cattle, Representative Corey Mock in Dairy Cattle, Senator Greg Kessel in Dairy Goats, Representative Jay Fisher in Meat Goats, Representative Jared Hagert in Sheep, and Dr. Ethan Andress in Swine.

State leaders, each coached by a 4-H champion, participated in an event promoting knowledge exchange and leadership growth in the agricultural community. This event exemplifies 4-H's commitment to empowering youth to thrive, lead, and change the world.
