North Dakota Crop Maturation Lags Averages



For the week ending Sunday, there were 5.9 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 15% very short, 42% short, 41% adequate, and 2% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 10% very short, 39% short, 49% adequate, and 2% surplus.

Soybean condition rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 34% fair, 54% good, and 6% excellent. Soybeans dropping leaves was 57%, well behind 78% last year, and behind 72% for the five-year average. Harvested was 4%, behind 10% last year, and near 7% average.

Spring wheat harvested was 91%, behind 100% last year, and near 93% average.

Durum wheat mature was 88%, behind 100% last year and 99% average. Harvested was 77%, well behind 99% last year, and behind 88% average.

Winter wheat planted was 42%, ahead of 37% last year and 34% average. Emerged was 8%, ahead of 1% last year, and near 4% average.

Corn condition rated 2% very poor, 7% poor, 31% fair, 50% good, and 10% excellent. Corn dough was 95%, behind 100% last year, and near 98% average. Dented was 76%, behind 88% last year, and near 77% average. Mature was 26%, behind 40% last year, and near 29% average.

Canola harvested was 68%, behind 80% last year and 78% average.

Sugarbeet condition rated 2% very poor, 3% poor, 36% fair, 48% good, and 11% excellent. Sugarbeets harvested was 11%, near 10% last year, and equal to average.

Oats harvested was 94%, behind 100% last year, and near 95% average.

Barley harvested was 93%, behind 100% last year, and near 97% average.

Dry edible peas harvested was 97%, near 100% last year and 98% average.

Sunflower condition rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 33% fair, 51% good, and 8% excellent.

Sunflowers ray flowers dry was 89%, near 93% last year and 91% average. Bracts turned yellow was 67%, behind 79% last year and 74% average. Bracts turned brown was 30%, behind 36% last year, and near 34% average.

Flaxseed harvested was 74%, behind 91% last year, and near 77% average.

Potato condition rated 0% very poor, 1% poor, 25% fair, 53% good, and 21% excellent. Potatoes vines dry was 59%, well behind 82% last year and 84% average. Harvested was 25%, near 27% last year and 26% average.

Dry edible bean condition rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 38% fair, 47% good, and 10% excellent. Dry edible beans dropping leaves was 88%, behind 95% last year and 94% average. Harvested was 31%, well behind 54% last year, and behind 49% average.

Lentils harvested was 80%, behind 96% last year, and near 83% average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 3% very poor, 18% poor, 42% fair, 33% good, and 4% excellent.

Stock water supplies rated 4% very short, 27% short, 67% adequate, and 2% surplus.
