Michael Uetz receives the 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award from North Dakota State University (NDSU). This honor is given by the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources to alumni who make a strong impact in agriculture and inspire students and the university community.
Uetz completes his bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from NDSU in 1982. Later, he earns a master’s degree in food marketing from Cornell University in 1985.
He is the co-founder and leader of Midan Marketing, a Chicago-based agency that helps meat producers, processors, and retailers build strong marketing and business strategies. His agency works with well-known clients such as Tyson Foods, Creekstone Farms, STX Beef, HyLife Premium Pork, Texas Beef Council, and many others.
Uetz focuses his career on understanding how consumer behavior changes when buying meat. He uses this research to help businesses adjust to new market trends. His studies include important topics such as meat nutrition labels, product packaging, branding, and naming.
He strongly supports the meat industry and works to promote the value of meat around the world. His leadership helps strengthen the industry and supports animal agriculture.
Uetz gives back to the university by creating the Michael Uetz Agriculture Scholarship Endowment. This endowment supports students in the College of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources.
