FFA and 4H Skills Contest in Napoleon

FFA and 4H Skills Contest in Napoleon

By Scout Nelson

Napoleon will host the 16th annual FFA and 4-H Livestock, Agronomy, and Ag Sales Contest on January 31, 2026. This educational event is open to youth who want to improve their skills in agriculture, sales, and livestock judging. The contest runs from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and offers a full morning of learning and competition.

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. at the event locations. At 8:45 a.m., participants receive instructions for the day before events start at 9:00 a.m. The contest gives students hands-on experience while helping them build confidence, leadership, and decision making skills.

Livestock judging takes place at Napoleon Livestock Auction, located at 6134 ND-3 in Napoleon. Students judge animals and then give reasons at the sales barn. After judging is complete, lunch is served at the school.

Agronomy and Ag Sales events take place at Napoleon Public School. Agronomy activities are held in the school gym, while Ag Sales events are held in the high school building. Students enter the school on the south side to register and receive event instructions.

Coffee and rolls are available in the Ag room and at the sales barn. Lunch and awards are held at the school after the contest events are completed.

The contest helps students learn about crop management, livestock care, and communication skills needed in agriculture careers. It also supports youth leadership development through FFA and 4-H programs.

Families, teachers, and community members are encouraged to support participants during the event. Awards recognize student effort and achievement.

For registration details, team limits, fees, and deadlines, participants should contact Josh Becker at 701-754-2504 or by email joshua.becker.3@ndsu.edu. Requests for disability accommodations should be made at least two weeks before the event.
