BSC Offering Cybersecurity Scholarships to Teachers

Bismarck State College (BSC) has received funding from a North Dakota Department of Commerce Technical Skills Grant and Palo Alto Networks to offer North Dakota K-12 teachers $500 scholarships toward earning their Cybersecurity Education and North Dakota Department of Public Instruction (DPI) credentials. Educators are eligible to receive up to two $500 scholarships toward cybersecurity courses offered at BSC.

Cybersecurity Foundation (30 hours) and Network Security Fundamentals (45 hours) are 12-week online courses that are self-paced, allowing teachers to complete them anytime and anywhere. The courses are taught by industry experts and offered in partnership with global cybersecurity leader Palo Alto Networks.

BSC has partnered with DPI to align these courses to meet the DPI Level 2 and Level 3 Computer Science and Cybersecurity Credentials, allowing educators to teach introductory and intermediate-level computer science or cyber-related courses at any grade level corresponding with their teaching license. The courses provide unique and valuable skills in cybersecurity fundamentals and network security and the coursework experience is similar to what their students will learn if the course is taught within a school district. Three graduate credits are available for each course.

Registration is open now through March 2023. Course start dates begin the second Monday of each month with course access available for 12 weeks from the start of the chosen date.

For more information about the courses and scholarships, visit bismarckstate.edu/cybercredential.
