Hatton Granite Receives USDA Renewable Energy Grant
North Dakota Ag Connection - 10/23/2020

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is investing over $13,000 to install LED lighting and an HVAC system in North Dakota.

"Renewable energy options help open opportunities elsewhere, like creating jobs," said USDA Rural Development State Director for North Dakota Clare Carlson.

In rural Hatton, Hatton Granite Countertops, Inc. will use a $13,682 grant to make energy-efficient improvements to their operations. The improvements include LED lighting and an HVAC system at its office and plant facilities in Hatton. This project will save the business nearly $5,000 per year and replace 44,750 kWh per year, which is enough energy to power four homes.

USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas. This assistance supports infrastructure improvements; business development; housing; community facilities such as schools, public safety and health care; and high-speed internet access in rural areas.
