Hoeven Joins Bipartisan Effort on Heating Assistance
North Dakota Ag Connection - 09/21/2017

Senator John Hoeven this week joined a bipartisan group of senators in urging U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price to release funds through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to ensure support is available to help low-income families heat their homes in the winter months. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Hoeven works to support the program through annual funding bills each year and helped secure $23 million in assistance for North Dakotans last winter.

"North Dakotans know well the additional costs that come in the winter," Hoeven said. "For families struggling to get by, whose homes may not be well-insulated or weatherized against harsh weather, this assistance helps make ends meet. That's why we are urging the administration to make the funding available, so state agencies are prepared to help out as soon as needed."
