23 Percent of N.D. Stock Water Short to Very Short

For the week ending Sunday, there were 6.2 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 8% very short, 27% short, 55% adequate, and 10% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 5% very short, 23% short, 63% adequate, and 9% surplus.
Soybean condition rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 29% fair, 57% good, and 10% excellent. Soybeans blooming was 92%, near 91% last year and 95% for the five-year average. Setting pods was 71%, ahead of 57% last year, but near 75% average.
Spring wheat condition rated 2% very poor, 6% poor, 29% fair, 55% good, and 8% excellent. Spring wheat coloring was 89%, near 88% last year and 93% average. Mature was 37%, behind 42% last year. Harvested was 7%, near 4% last year, but behind 19% average.
Durum wheat condition rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 28% fair, 56% good, and 10% excellent. Durum wheat coloring was 86%, ahead of 77% last year, and near 84% average. Mature was 25%, behind 33% last year. Harvested was 2%, near 1% last year.
Winter wheat condition rated 2% very poor, 7% poor, 34% fair, 52% good, and 5% excellent. Winter wheat mature was 87%, ahead of 81% last year. Harvested was 52%, well ahead of 27% last year, and near 50% average.
Corn condition rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 23% fair, 59% good, and 13% excellent. Corn silking was 92%, ahead of 84% last year, and near 91% average. Dough was 20%, ahead of 5% last year, but behind 27% average.
Canola condition rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 23% fair, 60% good, and 13% excellent. Canola coloring was 64%, equal to last year, and behind 81% average. Harvested was 1%, equal to last year.
Sugarbeet condition rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 4% fair, 43% good, and 50% excellent.
Oats condition rated 3% very poor, 7% poor, 27% fair, 56% good, and 7% excellent. Oats coloring was 86%, ahead of 80% last year, but behind 92% average. Mature was 48%, ahead of 33% last year. Harvested was 17%, ahead of 4% last year, but behind 29% average.
Barley condition rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 31% fair, 54% good, and 9% excellent. Barley coloring was 91%, equal to last year. Mature was 49%, near 50% last year. Harvested was 13%, ahead of 8% last year, but behind 30% average.
Dry edible peas condition rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 24% fair, 61% good, and 10% excellent. Dry edible peas dropping leaves was 85%, near 87% last year, and behind 92% average. Harvested was 24%, ahead of 17% last year, but behind 43% average.
Sunflower condition rated 0% very poor, 2% poor, 25% fair, 65% good, and 8% excellent. Sunflowers blooming was 78%, well ahead of 55% last year, and near 77% average. Ray flowers dry was 2%.
Flaxseed condition rated 1% very poor, 3% poor, 26% fair, 62% good, and 8% excellent. Flaxseed coloring was 60%, behind 66% last year and 75% average. Harvested was 1%.
Potato condition rated 3% very poor, 2% poor, 20% fair, 60% good, and 15% excellent. Potatoes rows closed was 86%, equal to last year, and behind 91% average. Vines dry was 2%, near 1% last year and 5% average.
Dry edible bean condition rated 3% very poor, 9% poor, 24% fair, 53% good, and 11% excellent. Dry edible beans blooming was 87%, behind 93% last year. Setting pods was 66%, behind 75% last year and 79% average. Dropping leaves was 4%, near 2% last year.
Alfalfa condition rated 3% very poor, 14% poor, 33% fair, 47% good, and 3% excellent. Alfalfa second cutting was 72%, well ahead of 52% last year, and ahead of 66% average.
Lentils harvested was 3%, near 1% last year.
Pasture and range conditions rated 2% very poor, 12% poor, 41% fair, 43% good, and 2% excellent.
Stock water supplies rated 2% very short, 21% short, 72% adequate, and 5% surplus.
