83 Percent of N.D. Subsoil Moisture Very Short to Short

For the week ending Sunday, there were 6.7 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 41% very short, 45% short, 13% adequate, and 1% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 47% very short, 36% short, 17% adequate, and 0% surplus.

Soybean condition rated 12% very poor, 29% poor, 39% fair, 19% good, and 1% excellent. Soybeans blooming was 56%, near 53% last year, and equal to the five-year average. Setting pods was 14%, ahead of 9% last year, and equal to average.

Spring wheat condition rated 30% very poor, 34% poor, 25% fair, 10% good, and 1% excellent. Spring wheat headed was 93%, near 91% last year, and equal to average. Coloring was 41%, ahead of 23% last year and 34% average. Mature was 5%, near 1% last year.

Durum wheat condition rated 13% very poor, 25% poor, 29% fair, 27% good, and 6% excellent. Durum wheat jointed was 95%, near 97% last year. Headed was 80%, behind 90% last year and 89% average. Coloring was 29%, ahead of 21% last year and 22% average.

Winter wheat condition rated 21% very poor, 36% poor, 31% fair, 11% good, and 1% excellent. Winter wheat headed was 95%. Coloring was 74%, near 75% last year, and equal to average. Mature was 44%, ahead of 30% last year, and well ahead of 22% average. Harvested was 6%, near 4% average.

Corn condition rated 9% very poor, 23% poor, 39% fair, 27% good, and 2% excellent. Corn silking was 22%, ahead of 16% last year, and equal to average.

Canola condition rated 32% very poor, 28% poor, 21% fair, 17% good, and 2% excellent. Canola blooming was 95%, near 93% last year and 96% average. Coloring was 14%, ahead of 7% last year, but behind 20% average.

Sugarbeet condition rated 1% very poor, 5% poor, 31% fair, 48% good, and 15% excellent.

Oats condition rated 19% very poor, 31% poor, 32% fair, 17% good, and 1% excellent. Oats headed was 92%, ahead of 84% last year, and near 89% average. Coloring was 39%, ahead of 23% last year, and near 36% average. Mature was 8%, ahead of 1% last year.

Barley condition rated 24% very poor, 28% poor, 37% fair, 10% good, and 1% excellent. Barley headed was 91%, near 88% last year and 93% average. Coloring was 39%, ahead of 25% last year, but near 42% average.

Dry edible peas condition rated 9% very poor, 28% poor, 38% fair, 23% good, and 2% excellent. Dry edible peas blooming was 92%, equal to last year, and near 93% average. Dropping leaves was 22%, near 20% last year, and equal to average.

Sunflower condition rated 6% very poor, 25% poor, 45% fair, 23% good, and 1% excellent. Sunflowers emerged was 98%, near 97% last year. Blooming was 5%, near 6% last year, and behind 12% average.

Flaxseed condition rated 9% very poor, 31% poor, 35% fair, 23% good, and 2% excellent. Flaxseed blooming was 91%, ahead of 83% last year and 84% average. Coloring was 11%, near 15% last year, and equal to average.

Potato condition rated 7% very poor, 13% poor, 61% fair, 18% good, and 1% excellent. Potatoes blooming was 76%, near 79% last year and 77% average. Rows closed was 37%, near 38% last year and 36% average.

Dry edible bean condition rated 18% very poor, 33% poor, 36% fair, 12% good, and 1% excellent. Dry edible beans blooming was 42%, behind 53% last year and 56% average. Setting pods was 5%, behind 11% last year.

Alfalfa condition rated 37% very poor, 33% poor, 23% fair, 7% good, and 0% excellent. Alfalfa first cutting was 93%, near 96% last year and 92% average. Second cutting was 10%, near 13% last year, and behind 17% average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 43% very poor, 31% poor, 21% fair, 5% good, and 0% excellent.

Stock water supplies rated 40% very short, 38% short, 22% adequate, and 0% surplus.
