Produced Water Spill Reported in Williams County
North Dakota Ag Connection - 07/22/2019
The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) has been notified of a produced water spill resulting from a pipeline break in Williams County. The pipeline is operated by Polar Midstream, LLC.
Produced water is a byproduct of oil and gas development.
The spill occurred approximately 3 miles southwest of Epping on July 18, and it was reported the same day. Initial estimates indicate approximately 300 barrels of produced water were released, impacting pastureland near a well pad. An undetermined amount
flowed onto and was contained on the well pad.
Inspectors from the North Dakota Industrial Commission - Oil and Gas Division and the NDDEQ have visited the site. NDDEQ personnel will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.
