Nearly $150,000 for NDSU Grazing Land Research
North Dakota Ag Connection - 07/16/2018

Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee and a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded $149,000 to North Dakota State University (NDSU). The funds will be used to research the effects of patch-burning to enhance the diversity and health of grazing land.

"Our ranchers rely on productive land to support their sheep, cattle and other livestock grazing operations," Hoeven said. "Today's funds will help NDSU research the benefits of patch-burning in promoting grazing land wellness. This will be a first-of-its-kind research in the Northern Great Plains and could be a great benefit to our ranchers."
