North Dakota Ag Connection - 06/05/2020

Because of their exceptionally high scores on Microsoft Office Specialist exams, two Bismarck State College students have been named North Dakota Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) champions and selected to compete in the Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship in June 2021.

BSC Information Processing Specialist major John Thomason, from Mandan, N.D., has been named the North Dakota Certiport MOS PowerPoint 2019 State Champion. BSC Administrative Assistant/General major Markenna Feist, from Wishek, N.D., has been named the North Dakota Certiport MOS Word 2019 State Champion.

Thomason and Feist have been invited to compete in the 2021 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship in Orlando, Fla., June 21-23, 2021. The 2020 national event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship presented by Certiport, Inc. is a national competition that tests students' skills on Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Students with the highest exam scores and lowest exam-taking times are invited to represent their state and compete for scholarships ranging from $750 to $3,000 at the national event.

This is the third consecutive year that students in the BSC Administrative Assistant and Information Processing Specialist programs have been named North Dakota MOS Champions.
