North Dakota Winter Wheat Seedings Up from 2019

Winter wheat seeded area for 2021 is estimated at 140,000 acres, up from last year's seeded area of 40,000 acres, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service for North Dakota.

U.S. winter wheat planted area for harvest in 2021 is estimated at 32.0 million acres, up 5 percent from 2020 and up 2 percent from 2019. This represents the fourth lowest United States acreage on record.

Seeding of the 2021 acreage was underway in early-September and was ahead of the 5-year average pace. Throughout the season, planting and emergence progress remained ahead of the 5-year average pace. Seeding was mostly complete by November 15, 2020.
