Produced Water Spill Reported in McKenzie County
North Dakota Ag Connection - 03/25/2019

The North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH) has been notified of a produced water spill resulting from a truck accident in McKenzie County. NDDoH reported the spill late Friday.

The truck is owned and operated by Elite Oil Field Services.

The incident occurred about 18 miles southeast of Watford City on March 20, and it was reported the next day.

Produced water is a by-product of oil and gas development.

Initial estimates indicate approximately 100 barrels of produced water were released and impacted a seasonal stream. Personnel from the NDDoH have inspected the site and will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.
