The North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH) reported Monday that it has been notified of a crude oil spill in McKenzie County.

The spill was the result of equipment failure in the treater unit on a well pad. The well is owned by Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Company LP. The spill was discovered on Sunday, approximately 16 miles southeast of Watford City, and was reported the same day.
