NDFB President Not Worried About Trump's Ag Budget
North Dakota Ag Connection - 03/20/2017

President Donald Trump released his first budget from the White House, and North Dakota Senators John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp say they don't like it. In particular, they say it will hurt agriculture.

Congressman Kevin Cramer, for his part, has expressed some skepticism but says he's open minded about it (which earned him a tongue lashing from the state's Democrats).

Meanwhile, North Dakota Farm Bureau President Daryl Lies told a radio audience that concerns are overblown.

"People are jumping a little bit to anxiety," Lies said during a segment on SayAnythingBlog's radio program.

He said some of the cuts make sense. "There's some duplication between agencies," Lies told show host Rob Port, adding that it makes sense to be "cutting staff in local offices."

"We're in the 21st century here," he said. "Do we need an office in every county to do the same thing a regional office could do?"

"I am, at this point, not concerned," Lies told me.
