Rural Export Council, Roundtable to Outline Ag Assistance Today

On Thursday, Senator John Hoeven will hold a roundtable discussion with North Dakota agriculture leaders, commodity groups and producers to outline disaster assistance funding and trade aid. That afternoon, Senator Hoeven will hold a roundtable to highlight the Rural Export Council and his efforts to expand market research support.

Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee, along with Tom Bodine, deputy North Dakota agriculture commissioner; Laura Heinrich, North Dakota FSA farm program director; and Brian Haugen, Conservation and MFP program director, will hold a roundtable discussion with commodity leaders and agriculture producers in Fargo.

The senator will outline his work with USDA to secure disaster assistance and MFP payments for North Dakota producers.

The event begins at 10:30 a.m. CT at the AES Greenhouse -- NDSU, 1440 18th Street N, Fargo.

At 1:30 p.m., Hoeven, joined by Jay Schuler, North Dakota Export Council chair, and Heather Ranck from U.S. Commercial Services (USCS) in Fargo, will hold a roundtable discussion on the senator's efforts to expand export opportunities for rural communities. The Fargo USCS office is home to the RAISE program and leads the agency's rural export efforts. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Hoeven secured $500,000 to expand USCS programs that assist rural companies in offering their products and services internationally through market research, analysis and planning.

The event takes place in the Richard H. Barry Hall -- NDSU, Mezzanine Commons, 811 2nd Avenue N, Fargo.
