North Dakota Farmers Barely Get 3 Days in the Field

For the week ending Sunday, there were 3.3 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 5 percent very short, 21 short, 66 adequate, and 8 surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 11 percent very short, 24 short, 59 adequate, and 6 surplus.

Soybeans harvested was 93 percent, behind 100 both last year and for the five-year average.

Winter wheat condition rated 4 percent very poor, 3 poor, 24 fair, 62 good, and 7 excellent. Winter wheat emerged was 96 percent, equal to last year.

Corn harvested was 71 percent, behind 85 last year and 88 average.

Sunflowers harvested was 74 percent, behind 86 last year and 83 average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 7 percent very poor, 17 poor, 45 fair, 29 good, and 2 excellent.

Stock water supplies rated 8 percent very short, 28 short, 62 adequate, and 2 surplus.
