North Dakota Ag Connection - 10/09/2018

Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded more than $5.6 million in funding to address opioid abuse in North Dakota. The funding will be used to increase access to treatment and evidence-based services for individuals living with mental health and substance use disorders, as well as to support the Center for Rural Health at the University of North Dakota (UND).

"Today's funding aligns with legislation we passed this week and our ongoing work in Congress to address the opioid abuse epidemic," Hoeven said. "The funding will allow health care providers, including community health centers in Beulah, Fargo, Turtle Lake, Grand Forks and Barnes County, to play an even greater role in addressing the treatment needs of those living with mental health and substance abuse. In addition, it will also support the Center for Rural Health at UND which provides resources to health care providers in rural communities throughout our state."
